Why it matters
Dominican heritage has a meaningful place in modern British cultural life, yet needs stronger year-round visibility, infrastructure and opportunities for participation, starting from local community roots in Wandsworth.
Community Impact
Dominican Parade UK CIC is being developed as a long-term community and cultural organisation rooted in Wandsworth. Our work extends beyond the planned Summer 2027 parade through education, youth engagement, volunteering, partnerships and inclusive cultural programmes.
Impact framework
Dominican heritage has a meaningful place in modern British cultural life, yet needs stronger year-round visibility, infrastructure and opportunities for participation, starting from local community roots in Wandsworth.
Young people, families, volunteers, schools, local residents, cultural organisations and wider audiences interested in shared heritage and inclusion.
Partner on a programme, volunteer skills, support Wandsworth outreach, join the network, contribute funding or register interest in future activity.
Investment can convert cultural ambition into structured programmes with defined outputs in learning, participation, skills, wellbeing and community connection.
Year-round delivery
Our developing impact framework connects cultural identity with practical opportunity, including clear public benefit for Wandsworth residents as well as London-wide and UK-wide communities. We aim to work collaboratively, measure responsibly and publish verified outcomes as programmes grow.
Listening to communities, creating routes for participation and developing activity shaped by lived experience.
Supporting learning about Dominican heritage, history, music, food, language, arts and contribution to UK life.
Creating pathways for confidence, leadership, creativity, public voice and positive community participation.
Developing supported roles that connect people with purpose while strengthening organisational capacity.
Designing welcoming cultural spaces that connect Dominican, Caribbean, Latin American and wider communities.
Building practical experience in events, communications, outreach, teamwork, leadership and cultural production.
Using celebration, connection and belonging to support pride, confidence and positive social relationships.

Wandsworth VCS alignment
Dominican Parade UK CIC’s work aligns with Wandsworth’s wider voluntary and community sector priorities, including community participation, cultural inclusion, youth engagement, volunteering, partnership development and support for smaller community-led organisations.
Wandsworth’s Voluntary Sector Needs Analysis highlights the importance of strengthening local civil society, improving collaboration between the voluntary sector, the council, businesses and community partners and creating more diverse and accessible opportunities for residents to participate in civic and community life.
Our developing programme responds to these priorities by building a cultural and educational platform rooted in Wandsworth, with future activity including school engagement, heritage learning, volunteering pathways, community partnerships and cultural events that support representation, belonging and long-term community legacy.
This alignment does not imply formal endorsement by Wandsworth Council. References to Wandsworth Council priorities or voluntary sector infrastructure are included to show local alignment and public benefit. They do not imply approval, funding or partnership by Wandsworth Council.
Impact measurement
As our work develops, we aim to track meaningful indicators such as school and community engagement, volunteer participation, partnership development, event participation, cultural learning activity and feedback from residents, families, young people and partners.
This will help us evidence community value, improve responsibly and build a long-term legacy beyond a single event.
Community benefits
Community impact is strongest when young people, families, schools, businesses, visitors and cultural organisations all have meaningful ways to participate.
All programmes and partnerships will be developed responsibly, in line with capacity, safeguarding requirements, available funding and appropriate approvals.
